Welcome to RupeeSafe ("we", "our", or "us"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it through our compliance with this policy. This Privacy Policy describes the types of information we may collect from you or that you may provide when you install and use the RupeeSafe mobile application (the "App"), and our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting, and disclosing that information.

1. Information We Access and Process

Because RupeeSafe is an offline expense tracking application, we process your information exclusively on your device. Here is exactly what we access:

• SMS Transaction Alerts (On-Device Scanning): The App requests permissions to read SMS messages (READ_SMS and RECEIVE_SMS). This permission is used only to scan and detect transactional messages sent by your bank, UPI service provider, or credit card issuer (such as OTP notifications, debits, credits, and account balance updates).
• Local Financial Data: Any accounts, budgets, goals, and transaction entries you manually log or that are automatically parsed from SMS alerts.

Crucial Notice: The parsing, scanning, and analysis of SMS contents happen locally on your phone using our light-weight on-device rules engine. No SMS characters, metadata, or parsed amounts are ever transmitted to any external server or third party.

2. Why We Do Not Collect Personal Data

We believe your financial life should be yours alone. Therefore:

• No Accounts: You do not need to sign up, log in, or link an email address or phone number to use RupeeSafe.
• No Cloud Storage: We do not offer cloud syncing. All databases are stored in the App's private local sandbox on your device.
• No Tracker SDKs: We do not include third-party analytics, diagnostic trackers, or advertisements in our App.

3. Permissions Used and Rationale

To provide automatic expense tracking, the App requires specific device permissions:

• READ_SMS / RECEIVE_SMS: Required to scan incoming and existing transaction messages to automatically record expenses, savings, and UPI transfers.
• Storage (Write/Read External Storage): Used solely to allow you to export and import encrypted backup files when you choose to manually back up your data.

4. Data Storage and Backup Security

Since your data is stored locally, its security depends on your device's security:

• On-Device Encryption: The App stores data inside the secure app sandbox provided by the Android OS.
• Manual Backups: The App allows you to generate a backup file. This backup file is encrypted. When you export this file, it is transferred only to a destination chosen by you (such as your personal Google Drive, email, or local folder). We have no access to these backups or the keys.
• Risk of Loss: Because we do not keep a copy of your data on any server, if you lose your phone, format your device, or uninstall the App, your data will be permanently lost unless you have previously generated a manual backup.

5. Third-Party Services

The App may contain links to the Google Play Store or open-source repositories. When you click these links, you may interact with those platforms, which are governed by their respective privacy policies. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party platforms.

6. Children's Privacy

Our App is not intended for children under 13 years of age. Since we do not collect any personal data, we do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under 13.

7. Compliance with Indian Regulations

RupeeSafe is built in Bengaluru, India, and is designed for the Indian market. We strive to respect user privacy in line with the Information Technology Act, 2000, and the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023. Since no personal data is collected or processed by us on any external server, we act as a secure, local-only processing utility on your device.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
